THE Webb of Excellence scholarship award was originally set up for brilliant-but-needy FEMALE DAY STUDENTS of the Ada Senior High School.
Under the terms and conditions, the awardee was required to attain, at least, 70 percent in her annual academic performance to qualify for the award.
The scholarship took care of the awardee’s tuition fees for ONE ACADEMIC YEAR. Continuation of the assistance in the subsequent year depended on the awardee’s performance – i.e. she had to attain a grade of 70 percent or above.
Since the inception of the award under the original scheme, there have been THREE BENEFICIARIES to date – i.e. Stella Korlekuor Akpanglo (2015-2017), a General Arts student; Charity Asigbey Kpelemeh (2016-2018), a Business student and Emelia Korlekuor Addowah (2017-2019), also a Business student.
All the three winners were able to sustain their brilliant academic performances in the subsequent years by attaining grade 70 percent and above in line with the terms and conditions of the Fund and, therefore, benefitted from further assistance from the Fund.
In addition to enjoying the scholarship for TWO ACADEMIC YEARS, the various winners also had their Extra Classes Fees as well as the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Registration Fees settled by the Fund.
WITH the introduction of Free Senior High School policy by the Government of Ghana (GoG), beginning with SH1 students in September 2017, it became obvious that the Webb of Excellence Welfare Fund could no longer continue to support brilliant-but-needy female students of the Ada Senior High School, with effect from the 2019-2020 Academic Year.
The Fund, therefore, decided to shift its focus to the most BRILLIANT FEMALE STUDENT of the Ada Senior High School who will gain admission to any of the country’s PUBLIC universities after the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
For the 2019-2020 Awards, the Fund decided to honour TWO female students, instead of ONE in view of the brilliant performance of the girls in the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
The recipients – JULIET NUERKI ANNANG and NYEMIGNOR KORKOR OKAI – were honoured on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the campus of Ada Senior High School in the full glare of the current students.
Our commitment will be to settle, IN FULL, the regular Academic User Fee as well as Residential Fee of the award winner for the FIRST YEAR ONLY.
The award winner must maintain a B AVERAGE at the end of an ACADEMIC YEAR, to be considered for a further assistance of 10% of the REGULAR ACADEMIC USER FEE.
The award winner would be formally written to and she is expected to respond, in writing, accepting the terms of the award.
The beneficiary is expected to furnish the Headmaster of the Ada Senior School as well as the Secretary of the Webb of Excellence Welfare Fund with a copy of the transcript of her results at the end of every year
